Reversible thermochromic pigments themselves are an unstable system (stable means difficult to change), so their lightfastness, heat resistance and aging resistance are inferior to those of ordinary pigments. Attention should be paid during use.
Lightfastness: The lightfastness of temperature-sensitive color-changing powder is relatively poor. It will quickly fade and lose its effectiveness when exposed to strong sunlight. Therefore, it is only suitable for indoor use. Strong sunlight and ultraviolet light exposure should be avoided, as this is beneficial for extending the service life of color-changing pigments.
Heat resistance: The thermochromic pigment can withstand a high temperature of 230ºC for a short period of time (about 10 minutes), and can be applied in injection molding and high-temperature curing. However, the thermal stability of color-changing pigments in the developing state and the achromatic state is different, and the stability of the former is higher than that of the latter. In addition, when the temperature exceeds 80ºC, the organic substances that constitute the color-changing system will also start to degrade. Therefore, color-changing pigments should avoid working for a long time at temperatures above 75ºC.
Storage: Temperature-sensitive color-changing powder should be stored in a cool, dry and completely dark place.
