Lanxess Magollies Dye - Soluble dye used for coloring engineering plastics. Magolis dyes are soluble in organic solvents, such as aromatic, esters, chlorinated hydrocarbons, insoluble in water and dilute aqueous solutions of acetic acid or ethanol. For colored plastics used in consumer goods, food packaging and children's toys, it is important that the dyes do not dissolve in water and ethanol because they cannot be allowed to penetrate into the contact medium. If the application may come into contact with printing inks and coatings based on organic solvents, the migration of substances must be tested on a case-by-case basis. When coloring thermoplastics, Macrolex dyes need to be treated as organic pigments. Adequate mixing and dispersion, coupled with higher processing temperatures, help the dyes dissolve. When using dyes with low solubility and high melting point, such as Macrolex Red EG, special attention needs to be paid to adequate mixing and dispersion prior to the plasticizing stage. Some dyes, such as Magolith dye orange 3G, sublimate easily at higher processing temperatures. Use other high temperature resistant dyes such as Macrolex Red EG, Red E2G and Macrolex Orange R instead.
